I have been working hard on getting some projects wrapped up...The new studio build is also in full swing.  I'll be posting photos after it is finished.  We'll be moving there sometime just after New Years. This week I started pre-production on Lee Roessler's next full length.  Lee's new album will feature some co-writes with Allen Salmon (Mute Math, Sanctus Real, Starfield), Jeff Smith (Like Jonathan, Sevenglory), Curt Anderson (No Greater Sky), Aaron Hunt (Sea Bird, Belle Histoire), Myself and some other cool writers.  Everyone involved is very proud to be a part of this project.  

In other news...I added new gear to the gear page as we have been acquiring some new killer tools and I have posted a couple new songs that were released this fall.  I posted two of Chris Calleja's new tunes which sit nicely on a playlist with Jakob Dylan, Tom Petty and The Wallflowers.  These tracks were mixed by Tom Lord-Alge and Mastered by Ted Jensen.

These last 3 months have been a blur.  We finished up some awesome projects.  I also had another chance to have a record mixed by Tom Lord Alge.  2 albums in 1 year.  Tom mixed Memarie Gayle's new release which is a bit of country and a bit of pop.  Her voice is amazing!  You might have seen Memarie on CMT's Can You Duet last season.  She was a finalist.  Here's the link to one of her performances on CMT.

I also had the opportunity to hook up again with Shine Bright Baby to do some co-writing for their next album.  They will be releasing their new album on the BEC/EMICMG label imprint this time around.  These kids are going to take over!

So what will the fall and winter look like?  Well, we are moving to our new location.  Things are going to be changing around here.  I'll be posting pictures and new updates as we move forward with the remodel.  The new studio will feature an incredible sounding live room and a control room complete with glass.  There will also be a new living quarters for bands taveling in from out of town that need a place to live while we make their record.  

Chris Calleja and I had the opportunity to head down to the infamous South Beach Studios Miami FL to mix Chris full length album.  South Beach Studios is home of Tom Lord Alge and Pharel Williams.  What an awesome experience.  Tom is absolutely killing the mixing of this album.  

What have I been up to lately?  A million things in a million different directions.

May:  My good friends Attaboy came out to the studio to record they're next full length album and we killed it!  This is going to be a cool album with new frontman Matt Siewert.  I also mixed a single for new Grand Rapids folk band The Fiction Writers.  Very cool song.

June:  I am wrapping up the final mixes for Attaboys album and tracking the remaining 5 songs for Chris Calleja's new full length.  Chris album will be mixed by none other than mixing superstar Tom Lord Alge and the mastering will be done by Ted Jensen.  I can't wait for people to hear this album. 

I also had the opportunity to get together with my friends Shine Bright Baby to write a song for their next album.  I missed those guys...and girl...

     A lot of cool things have been going on this month...  The thing I am most excited about is the Toledo Daughter Project LP.  A few months back I partnered with The Daughter Project to help them raise money to build a home for girls that have been rescued from human sex trafficking.  We will be releasing a full album of songs that will be for sale in the Toledo area only in December of this year.  All proceeds will go to the Daughter Project.  There will also be a killer concert featuring all the artists involved in this project.

    The home will be a sort of debriefing home to help the girls reaclimate into regular society again after being rescued from slavery. Toledo has the 4th highest problem of human trafficking in the US.  Lot's of awesome Toledo artists like Kathleen Reynolds, Aaron Valdiviez are on board as well as some awesome well known local musicians like Mark Graalman from Sanctus Real who will be performing drums on 3 songs.  The album will consist of 10 songs focusing on issues like family, social justice and God's grace.  We kicked off the tracking last week and I can't wait to get this thing rolling and off the ground.  As things move forward I will be posting all kinds of photos and links as well as links to the Daughter Project LP website that is currently under constuction.  

December has been a huge month for Sonus Clarus...  I've been producing a 5 song EP for Columbus artist Ryan Holliday and mixing a full album for Ohio rock band Harlend.  I am feeling very blessed to consistently have such cool people to work with and for.  I love my job...

In other news...Congrats to Juan Otero and Seth Mosely and the whole team that made the Newboys latest record.  The song "Born Again" was just named Billboard CHR song of the year.  That is a huge feat.  It seems the Newsboys have received a shot of adrenaline from this album and are still tearing it up with sales this year. 

It's been a very blessed year for us and we hope for you as well...

This is not right...The weather I mean.  Don't get me wrong, I love it.  So as we enter in to winter we get to look forward to making some great music.  I'll be working on writing some new songs with my buddy Juan for the Newsboys next album.  They don't mess around.  They are already getting songs around for their next release!  The current album has sold over 150,00 sales and is still climbing steadily.  

I will also be working on a couple projects from now until Christmas that are going to be cool.  After Christmas I get a short week off and then I'll be back at it.  

Be on the look out for Lee Roessler.  Lee is releasing his new album around December 4th.  The song You Know has been going for adds on CHR national radio all this week.  Tune in to a Way FM or CHR station near you to hear it.  Feel free to call in and request it!

WOW!  That was a lot of work.  However, it was worth it.  Last week we finished making the final changes to our downstairs tracking room.  And man does it sound great.  We had the chance to cut drums down there this week for Kurt Scobie's upcoming album. Talk about huge room sounds! We've posted some recent photos on our photo page.

Also, thanks to ADK Microphones and Stephanie at Guitar Center for getting us another TT just in time for our drum session.

In other news Lee Roessler will be releasing his full length album in the coming month.  Also look for his first national radio single to hit CHR radio in a couple months.  The song is titled "You Know" and features backing vocals by Kathleen Reynolds (another Sonus Clarus artist).  

We are expanding our studio! We are converting a large room that is connected to our studio into our new drum and live tracking room.  We are adding a Baldwin Hamilton upright piano, some new mics and about 350 square feet of additional space.  We'll be posting some photos after the conversion is finished in weeks to come.

     Summer is coming to an end.  This means I no longer have to run my AC in the studio and can open up the windows.  Needless to say it has been a hot one and a busy one.  I have been back and forth to Nashville wrapping up a new single with No Greater Sky and my buddy Jake Harsh as well as working hard here on several cool projects.

      Kathleen Reynolds will be releasing her new ep soon.  We are also wrapping up the mixing for Lee Roessler's first ever full length album and soon Rob Vischer will be releasing his new EP with a whole new sound.  Looking ahead there are several cool new projects on the horizon with Kurt Scobie, Aaron Valdiviez, Canons, The Daughter Project, and several more.
